Top 10 Supercars That Should Be Affordable

29 July, 2010 : Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren RoadsterPrice: $495,000

One of the supercars that can do better by cutting down just a bit on the price tag. McLaren and AMG collaborated on the development of this supercar, and the end result is more than impressive. And there seems to be some hitch in the brakes too. While the deceleration from its 205-mph top end is good, bringing it down from 25 mph is a clumsy business. Agreed that it is an SLR, but the price is way ahead of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. Mercedes Benz can rightly price it at $250,000.

Top Ten Car Extras You Don't Need

27 July, 2010 : The new car warranty will cover almost every component. But, why not keep a good thing going with extended warranties? Should anything happen, you will have to fight your way to set things right. Think again! In the long run and given the odds, arent you far better off regularly setting a few bucks aside for eventualities?

The Model T, according to Henry Ford, was available "in any colour you choose, so long as it's black." What put the world on wheels? It is the Model T Ford which also created the American suburbs.

Top Tips for your Car Engine and Other Systems

23 July, 2010 : Everyone tells about checking engine oil regularly, but we will tell you how to actually check the level. Drive your car for about 15 minutes to warm the oil, and then park the car in a level place. Turn off the engine and let wait for about 15-20 minutes so as to let the oil in the engine drain back to the oil pan. Remove the dipstick and use a paper towel or a rag to wipe it clean. Now, insert the dipstick again and push it all the way to the end. Pull it back and check the oil level. It should be somewhere between the hash marks on the dipstick.

Now, if necessary, you can add the type and amount of oil as recommended in your owner's manual.

Your owner's manual may shed some light about what grade of fuel works best for your new car. As long as your engine doesn't knock or ping when you fuel up with regular unleaded, you're good to drive on that fuel. Unless your car requires premium gasoline, filling up your car with high-octane fuel can be a waste of money. Your car may be good to go even when you fill it up with a lower-octane gasoline. Buy the grade of gasoline that is apt for your car. You can save a lot by doing so. A pricey premium fuel won't boost your car's fuel economy or performance in the least, so skip it.
